THE SUMMONING

When you broke my heart

and left me alone I died

a tumultuous death;

my mind fell beneath the 

underworld, defeated 

by wild bats and 

oversized pythons. Parts of

my limp body drowned 

along the Pacific 

from San Diego to Manila 

but you cannot imagine

how love dares me on.
